Who we are
Octopus Oasis runs two short-stay apartments in Lagos, Portugal: Old Town (AL 147741/AL) and Hill View (AL 176564/AL). This policy covers octopusoasis.com. For anything about your data, email anna@octopusoasis.com.
What we collect and why
Newsletter and free guide. If you sign up, we keep your email address to send you the Lagos guide and new posts from our blog. The legal basis is your consent. Emails are sent through Jetpack, run by Automattic. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all further emails.
Bookings. When you book directly, we collect your name, contact details, stay dates and payment information to manage your stay. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number. The legal basis is the contract with you.
Legal obligations. Portuguese law requires us to register foreign guests with the immigration authorities and to issue certified invoices. We collect and share the details these rules require, and keep invoicing records for as long as Portuguese tax law requires.
Messages. If you email or message us, we use what you send to reply.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to understand how the site is used. Non-essential cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
Who else sees your data
Only the services above, our accountant where invoices are concerned, and authorities where the law requires it. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe. Booking and invoicing records: for the period Portuguese law requires. Messages: as long as needed to deal with your question.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing anna@octopusoasis.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD (cnpd.pt).
